I'm Ellie Challans, a qualified Nutritional Therapist from Dorset in the UK.  I live here with my husband, two teenaged delights, three chickens 🐔🐔🐔 and one (scaredy) cat 🐱

I'm passionate about helping women achieve hormonal heaven.  I'm 46 and proudly navigating perimenopause, yay!...but seriously, I actually feel very fortunate to have reached this stage in my life. 

I am no stranger to hormonal dysregulation. My 30s were dominated by a hormonal rollercoaster ride, brought on by pregnancies, sleep deprivation and raising a young family - aka chronic stress!  The Mirena coil messed my hormones up even more.  I had amenorrhea (no periods), was hypothyroid, depressed, angry, overweight and falling asleep at my desk at 10am.  Health professionals dismissed my cries for help; I wasn't taken seriously.  So I made it my mission to figure out the problem on my own.  After 3 years (one year of DIY [I don't recommend this option!] followed by working with a functional medicine doctor and then discovering biohacking - look it up!) I eventually achieved vibrant health again, mainly through nutrition and gut healing.  In the process I learnt so much about female hormones and decided to study Nutritional Therapy.  

Fast forward to the onset of perimenopause and I now rely more heavily than ever on nutrition and lifestyle adjustments (movement, daylight exposure, gut care, sleep hygiene, rest etc) to help me feel well during this transition. I'm lucky to have experienced all my hormonal challenges in my younger years so that I can apply my learning in the context of perimenopause today.  I still experience bumps in the road but these are further learning points in my journey.
